The Jeep Renegade and the Jeep Cherokee -- one is an up-and-coming star in the Jeep line-up, and one has already proven itself as an off-road machine capable of handling any terrain. At Steve Landers Chysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Little Rock, Arkansas, we're proud to carry and love both models.
At first glance, the Cherokee appears to be a much larger vehicle than the Renegade. While they definitely have different styles, the size difference on the inside really isn’t that great.
CarConnection.com did a side-by-side test of the Renegade and the Cherokee, and here's what they found out.

- The Renegade's wheelbase is 5 inches shorter than the Cherokee's, with an overall length difference of 16 inches.
- The Renegade has 49.5 cubic feet of cargo space, versus 54.8 cubic feet inside the Cherokee.
- The rear seat folds flatter in the Renegade, providing a more "box-ish" cargo area, but the front passenger seat also folds down in the Cherokee
- The Renegade has two more inches of headroom and hip room, while the Cherokee has five more inches of legroom. Both models have the same shoulder room.
Those are all minor differences. The only major difference CarConnection.com noticed was in the cargo area with the back seats up; the Renegade's cargo hold was much narrower than the Cherokee’s.
They also noted that inside the Renegade, you'll actually feel quite a bit higher than inside the Cherokee.
However, they said they were very impressed with both models, and believe both will become segment leaders before long.
