The Christmas tree stands the pinnacle of holiday decorating. In fact, the Christmas tree is such an iconic part of the Christmas season that we even sing songs about it! Oh, Christmas tree, oh, Christmas tree, without you in our home, it just wouldn’t feel like Christmas.

While there are some great artificial Christmas tree options out there, many people swear by the  real Christmas tree. For those of you who require a real tree to get your Christmas just right, we at Landers Country in Little Rock want to offer you a few tips on transporting your Christmas tree in (or on) your car. Keep these tips in mind to eliminate damage to your precious tree and your precious vehicle!

  1. Ask to have your tree netted before you bring it home. A tight net around the tree will reduce wind damage to the tree’s many branches and foliage, thereby keeping it looking fresh in your house.

  1. Select a tree that will fit a.) in your cargo area or b.) on top of your roof rack. (if you don’t have a roof rack, we don’t recommend tying your tree to the top of your vehicle).

  • When tying your tree on your roof rack, make sure you have enough rope to wrap around the tree and tie to your rack.

  • When placing your tree in your cargo area, lay a tarp down to catch the loose needles. These prickly evergreens have the tendency to shed a lot! Also, make sure your tree is not impeding on your rear visibility.

  1. Drive slowly! Heavy objects have an effect on your vehicle’s center of gravity, especially if your tree is tied to your roof rack or strapped to the bed of your pickup truck. You took the time to find the perfect tree, to take your time in transporting it to your house.

  1. Ask if your supplier delivers. If you’re uncomfortable hauling the tree on your own, there’s no harm in asking if the tree lot can deliver to your home.

With these tips in mind, you’re now ready to get that Christmas tree from the lot to your house and begin decorating. Enjoy your tree!
