All year long, Jeep has been celebrating its 75th anniversary with special edition models. Jeep continued to mark its diamond anniversary on Thursday, Nov. 17, when the SUV company unveiled new designs for the 2017 Compass during a press conference in Los Angeles. Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Global, told the crowd the Jeep brand appeals as a “tough, capable vehicle for any occasion.”
“Now, we’re convinced that the world is ready for an urban explorer equipped to scale this global compact SUV market, and whilst its doing it, make a splash around the world. So, ladies and gentlemen I’d like to introduce the all new 2017 Jeep Compass.”
The 2017 Compass is built in four countries with 17 powertrain options for global markets and will be available in four trims: Trailhawk, Limited, Latitude and Sport. The Trailhawk, shown in red and black, and Limited, shown in silver, were both unveiled at the press conference.
The authentic exterior styling of the vehicle features the signature seven-slot grille, with a fresh look, set between sporty headlight lamps. The open-air dual-pane sunroof allows those in the front and back seats to enjoy the freedom of the outdoors.
The 2017 Compass is the most capable SUV ever with two advanced 4x4 systems, Active Drive and Active Drive Low. Each kicks in automatically when 4x4 traction is needed and both systems can send 100% of the torque available to any one wheel.
North American models are powered by the fuel-efficient 180-horsepower 2.4-liter Tigershark engine, with Engine Stop Start, that can deliver up to 30 miles per gallon. The 2017 Compass gives three choices in transmission: nine-speed automatic for 4x4 models, six-speed automatic for 4x2 models and six-speed manual for 4x4 and 4x2 models.
With premium interior materials, over 70 available safety features and fourth-generation Uconnect systems for communication, entertainment and navigation, the 2017 Jeep Compass is a smart choice for anyone looking for adventure.
