First up, a classic: Bullitt.
Filmed in 1968, this flick stars Steve McQueen as San Fransisco Police Lieutenant Frank Bullitt. Bullitt, along with a few other cops, is tasked with guarding a witness, Johnny Ross, over the weekend before he testifies in court to turn over evidence on the Chicago mob. Walter Chalmers, the politician who assigns Bullitt to look after Ross, wants Ross’s safety at all costs. Ross is shot while in protective custody, along with one of the cops, and Bullitt begins to think there’s more to the story so he begins investigating on his own.
We love this movie because of Steve McQueen, obviously, but the best part is, hands down, the car chase scene. This chase scene has been given icon status, it’s that amazing. McQueen’s Bullitt drives a 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback and it’s killer. The almost 10-minute long scene takes place in the Fisherman’s Warf area of San Fransisco, and the entire time he’s chasing the bad guys who are in a 1968 Dodge Charger.
The plot of the movie itself it just OK, but if you consider yourself a gearhead and haven’t seen this classic, order it online now.
